When my twin grandsons move in with me just after their eighteenth birthday, their mother worries that the boys will be too much. That Tom, with his manic levels of energy and total lack of a filter, and Teddy, who’s never spoken despite all the doctors she used to shuffle that boy around to never agreeing on any medical reason for his muteness, will somehow “disrupt the peace of my retirement.”
